Disguise, as we all know, is a very effective means of
soliciting information. However, one does not have to assume another identity
at all times. Instead, he/she could make
use of his/her own physical conditions and play with them to come up with a
creative and award-winning performance that would enable him/her to get the
information needed. It was actually what a female detective has done during one
background checking.
The female private detective was assigned to conduct a
background check on a foreigner as the client wanted to know his exact
location. She was pregnant that time so unlike what were usually seen on
movies, she no longer needed to put a pillow to make her abdomen look big. Now
thinking of her condition as an advantage, she went to the embassy and planned
for a grand dramatic performance where she played the role of the “abandoned wife”
of the foreigner, carrying their “unborn child.”
What happened next were some things we would usually see on
films and television series: The woman made a scene at the Embassy, telling everyone
what she was going through was and how hard it was to bear a child in her womb
without the father at her side. She cried her heart out, expressing her need
for her to find her “runaway husband” and ask for financial support. So the
staff, completely carried away and sold to the drama, calmed her down and
expressed their sympathy to the “abandoned wife” and gave her information about
the person she was looking for.
That way, the agent was able to get all the necessary
information she was tasked to get about the foreigner.
